Frequently Asked Questions

What if I have an “idea”, but I’m not an artist? Can we collaborate on the art?

Of course! We can add design into the project. We can collaborate via zoom or in person. We love doing this as it helps generate great ideas.

Why do you keep asking me for a vector file?

Because vector-based images are not made up of a specific number of dots, they can be scaled to a larger size and not lose any image quality. If you blow up a JPEGs, GIFs, or BMP graphic, it will look blocky, or “pixelated.”

Is there a standard-size banner?

The easy answer is, No. We can make banners to fit all areas and sizes required. However, we do have some common banner sizes that we sell, like an 8x4ft. Chat with your sign expert about what you are trying to accomplish with your banner and we will get you the perfect size for your need.

What is the best way for me to send artwork?

If your file is 5GB or under you can upload up to 3 of them on our Artwork Upload form here. However, for larger files you will have to send us a link to an FTP website where you already uploaded the files. Common FTP sites are google drive, one drive by microsoft office, Dropbox, box.com, FileZilla, CoffeeCup, etc.

Why is there a setup fee when I’m giving you the art?

Even if the artwork is provided, we have time allocated to set up the print and size appropriately. We always double-check the artwork to make sure it will be a good-quality image. We also have to set up the files to print onto the correct material. All of this takes time.

Why can’t the existing vinyl just be removed from the existing sign face?

Have you ever had to remove wallpaper? It takes a lot of chemicals and elbow grease to remove old vinyl. Especially if it’s been baked on over the years by the sun. The labor in removing the vinyl would be more than the cost of a new sign face.

I just signed a lease for a new store. What size and type of sign can I have?

Your lease agreement will usually detail the type and size of sign you are allowed. We can help you with reviewing the requirements and designing a sign that will be approved by your management.

What size lettering do I need?

Lettering size is based on the space available and the distance to be viewed. We have charts that show what letter sizing is readable at certain distances and we’d be more than happy to supply that upon request.

How long does it take to make a sign?

That is a tough one as it depends on what kind of sign. A banner can be printed within 2 days of proof approval.

Exterior signs such as channel letters and light boxes, have to be permitted and this can take 2 -3 weeks to receive approval. After approval, the fabrication can take 3 to 6 weeks.

A large part of the time to make a sign is in the approval process. We will not print or fabricate a sign until we have written approval from the customer.
